Our restaurant reccomendations

The villages that comprise "The Hamptons" are fortunate to have a fine variety of good restaurants, some within walking distance of A Butler's Manor, running the gamut of very casual to fine dining. Kim and Chris take the testing of our local restaurants very seriously and try to eat out as often as possible to stay current with menu selections and new openings. A full binder of local menus is available for perusal in our living room, but here is a sample of places we most often recommend.

Plaza Cafe

Serene atmosphere & exceptional cuisine.

Plaza Cafe

Zagat & Wine Spectator Awards winner. Don't be fooled by the "cafe" — this is fine dining, and our favorite choice for a special dinner out, and out first choice for foodies. Seafood, fresh local fare, boutique American wines in a serene, sea blue dining room with vaulted ceilings.

UNION CANTINA & UNION BURGER BAR

Casual, laid-back atmosphere, but nothing laid-back back about the food!

UNION CANTINA & UNION BURGER BAR

Located within “staggering distance” of A Butler’s Manor on Bowden Square, Union Cantina offers an unique, East Coast rendition of traditional and not-so-traditional Mexican cuisine in a fun, casual setting. Try Chef Scott Kampf’s Deconstructed Enchiladas with a margarita or cervesa. Sample one of the 100+ tequilas at the bar. Or pop into the new Union Burger Bar, located in an actual Prohibition-era speakeasy in the back of the historic property.

BISTRO ETE

An unpretentious dining experience that celebrates food and wine

BISTRO ETE

This hidden gem is dubbed “Coastal French,” to reflect the palate-tickling combination of owner/Chef Arie Pavlou’s Cypriot heritage with his classical training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. His creativity extends to vegan and vegetarian options, as well as specialty cocktails made with Chef Arie’s hand-crafted infusions. The atmosphere is serene, the food inspired!

Bell & Anchor

The restaurant pulls its inspiration from the rich history of Sag Harbor region: local seafood, steak, beer, vegetables.

Bell & Anchor

Bell & Anchor overlooks a small marina on Gardiner's Bay on Noyac Road, halfway between Sag Harbor and Southampton villages. It's off-the-beaten-track location carries through with a soft, laid-back vibe that feels nothing like some of the more frenetic restaurants in the villages. Soft sailcloth accents and lots of windows offer a spacious feeling, and the food is lovingly prepared.

Dockside Bar & Grill

Don't let the fact that Dockside is located in the historic American Legion building stop you. Located on Bay Street, across the street from the marina, you can dine inside or out on good seafood and much more.

American Hotel

Creative dishes that bring the enticing flavors of France, Italy, America and Asia to the table.

American Hotel

Elegant dining with a 5-star wine list (the cellar occupies the entire footprint of the hotel). While no restaurant in the Hamptons including the American Hotel has a dress code, if you've brought your jacket or high heels, here's where you're most likely to wear them.
